LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The winter storm that hit the La Crosse area has shifted, which means more snow for La Crosse.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for La Crosse, Houston and Monroe counties starting at 6:00 pm. Saturday until 18h Sunday.
The total new snowfall could be between 3 and 8 inches depending on the StormTracker Prediction Team 19.
It's cheaper than other parts of the region where more than a foot of fresh snow could fall before Sunday night.
It appears that the storm is hitting hardest in southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa, as well as north-central Wisconsin. The counties of Winona, Buffalo, Jackson and Trempealeau could see 7 to 13 inches of snow.

A blizzard warning starts at 6 pm Saturday at 6 pm Sunday for Fillmore and Wabasha Counties.
Allamakee and Vernon Counties are expected to still receive 3 to 5 inches of snow during this storm.
Regardless of the region, strong winds will blow over the area, up to 50 miles at the time in some places, and will produce snow that blows and drifts.
Most of the snow will fall in the middle of the morning Sunday. The winds will continue to move the snow all day.
The trips will be difficult from Saturday afternoon to Sunday. With strong winds, especially in open areas, whiteout conditions may occur. Allow a little more time to get to your destination if you even have to travel.

Roads will deteriorate during the evening as the storm intensifies. The Minnesota Department of Transportation has said snow plows would be on the roads, but the snow may exceed their ability to follow.
They offer these suggestions, which are good regardless of the state in which you drive:
Stay alert to snowplows that rotate or leave frequently and often without warning. They can also travel over central lines or partially in traffic to further improve the condition of the roads.
Stay at the back of at least 10 car lengths behind the plow. Do not drive in a cloud of snow.
Slow down at a safe speed under current conditions.
Turn on your headlights and wear your seatbelt.
Turn off the cruise control.
Be patient and remember that snow plows work to improve the road conditions during your trip.
Do not drive distracted.
Some churches canceled Sunday because of the weather.
