EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures negotiates with Travis Knight to lead Unexplored, the film adaptation of Sony Pictures from the PlayStation game to the mass sale. Tom Holland remains attached to the star and has been at the center of discussions for Knight to come on board after the release of Dan Trachtenberg. The film will begin production early next year.
Knight led the spin-off of Transformers Bourdon and Kubo and the two strings. He made his debut as lead animator for the Laika stop-motion animation studio, on films including Coraline, the Boxtrolls and ParaNorman. bumblebee was his first live film.
Charles Roven and Alex Gartner produce for Atlas Entertainment and Avi Arad and Ari Arad for Arad Productions.
Scripted by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins, the Unexplored The film has a story that captures the protagonist in his youth, as he grows up in the treasure hunter Nathan Drake. The video game series was created by Naughty Dog and published by PlayStation. It has sold more than 41 million copies to date. The film will become the first feature film of Sony PlayStation Productions, installed on the Sony batch last year by Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan. They will be executive producers.
