Travis Scott’s new ‘Cacti’ agave-tipped seltzer set to hit stores in 2021

AB InBev (BUD), the brewer of Budweiser, Corona and Stella Artois, announced the new drink on Thursday. Scott, whose label is called Cactus Jack, says seltzer – made from blue agave from Mexico – was inspired by his love of tequila. It will come in flavors of lime, pineapple and strawberry.

“Cacti is something that I’m really proud of and put a lot of work into,” Scott said in a statement. “I’m really excited to release it in 2021 and see other people enjoying it.”

Although the seltzer shelves are now filled with big names, sales continue to skyrocket, according to Nielsen. There are more than 65 brands on the shelves, compared to around 30 brands last year.

In the first 10 months of the year, sales of hard seltzer hit $ 3.2 billion, a staggering 188% increase from the same period a year ago.

Rapper Travis Scott and Anheuser-Busch's new agave-tipped seltzer Cacti will go on sale in spring 2021.

Nielsen said White Claw remains the best-selling drink, with Truly Hard Seltzer in second, Bud Light Hard Seltzer in third and Corona Seltzer in fourth.

Anheuser-Busch already sells Bon & Viv, Social Club Seltzer, Natty Light Seltzer and Bud Light Seltzer. Sales of these brands were a bright spot for the brewer after the pandemic bar and restaurant closures crushed beer sales.

Scott, for his part, is making the most of the success of his 2020 promotions since his Fortnite concert deal with video game developer Epic Games set an all-time concurrent view record for the platform with over 12.3 million viewers.
And Scott’s October partnership with McDonald’s as part of his limited Travis Scott Meal promotion caused some locations of the burger maker to run out of supplies.

“Scott is incredibly connected to his fans and to what’s new and upcoming in culture,” said Beyond Beer Fabricio Zonzini’s Anheuser-Busch president in a written statement. “As we continue on our mission to lead industry innovation and optimize our portfolio for the future, I am delighted that we can play a role in realizing Scott’s vision of delivering something new in Seltzer space.
