For Jacksonville Jaguars fans, the 2021 NFL Draft can’t come soon enough as their fans anticipate the likely selection of Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. His potential addition would give the team the highest rated prospect since Andrew Luck in most eyes, which is huge considering the franchise’s quarterbacks.
With Clemson’s season ending earlier this month, Lawrence has now focused on preparing for the NFL. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the journey began with former Jaguar Jordan Palmer, who went on to become a renowned NFL quarterback tutor for EXOS in California.
Garafolo added that Lawrence is also preparing as if every team can meet up with him. If that wasn’t enough, the former Tiger also learned how a typical NFL prep week goes from Palmer.

“Right now he’s going through drills where he’s taking a team to the playoffs and he’s breaking them down like he’s planning the game for them,” Garafolo said. “So on Monday he’s reviewing the last two games for this defense. Tuesday, [he looks at] basic pressures. Wednesday, under pressure. Thursday, third descent. Friday, red zone.
Basically it’s like planning a game because that’s what your week in the NFL will be like, so it gets a taste of it. I think that’s one of the main reasons why these guys took over.
Palmer has worked with several other notable quarterbacks like Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, and Deshaun Watson. He was an off-season quarterback coach / consultant for many years and spent time with the Jags (2012), Cincinnati Bengals (2008-10) and Chicago Bears (2013), to name a few. -a.
Garafolo also said that Lawrence will work to improve himself physically with goals to become a little stronger, more robust and more mobile.
With the Jags being his likely destination, this news will likely make fans more anxious to see Lawrence at training camp as the coronavirus pandemic allows. If not, maybe the preseason will provide them with their potential first look at Lawrence.
As for the team, new coach Urban Meyer has worked hard to put in place the right staff for the potential acquisition of Lawrence and the team in general. It was announced this week that former Detroit Lions interim head coach Darrell Bevell is slated to be the team’s next offensive coordinator. His partnership with Lawrence is one of the fans who have expressed their enthusiasm as Bevell has worked with notable callers such as Russell Wilson, Matthew Stafford, Aaron Rodgers and Brett Farve.
