Elon Musk, an enigmatic businessman and CEO of Tesla, had to face a violent reaction in September after calling the British explorer Vernon Unsworth "pedo guy" on his Twitter account, which currently has 26.4 million of followers. The social media explosion earned Musk a defamation suit by Unsworth's lawyers – after Musk was quoted as saying, "I hope I can sue myself" – and although the infamous leader of the company has asked that the case be closed, a first court the date is now set for October 22nd.
Recent court records have originally revealed the information, with several reports confirming it on Friday.
Musk's request to disregard the libel case was eventually dismissed, possibly in part because of an email he allegedly sent to buzzfeed who reiterated his statements about Unsworth, the so-called "child-rapist". According to a report by The edge, Wilson J. wrote that Musk "did not call [Unsworth] a "pedo guy" and leave him there. Instead, he made follow-up statements stating that he believed his statements were true.
