The trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, the teenager accused of killing two people during protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, over the summer, has been postponed to November 1. The trial was originally scheduled to begin on March 29.
In a virtual hearing on Wednesday, prosecutors and attorney for Rittenhouse agreed to delay the start of the trial to give them more time to prepare.
“There are a number of outstanding issues regarding discovery, DNA testing and other issues that need to be resolved. There is also some logistics regarding the possible jury that need to be resolved,” the prosecutor said. Deputy of Kenosha County. Thomas Binger.

Rittenhouse’s attorney, Mark Richards, agreed to delay the trial and Rittenhouse said he had no objections, although the delay would push the start of the trial to more than a year after being charged. Rittenhouse is currently on bail.
County circuit judge Bruce Schroeder has agreed to postpone the trial and schedule a final preliminary hearing for May 17 to confirm that the process is still on track for the November start date.
Rittenhouse, 18, is accused of shooting and killing Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber with an AR-type rifle during a police-triggered August 25 protest Jacob Blake filming, a black man who remained paralyzed. Rittenhouse is also accused of injuring Gaige Grosskreutz.
Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, is charged with two counts of first degree homicide and one count of attempted homicide. He also faces charges of reckless endangerment and possession of a weapon when he was under 18.
Rittenhouse has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
