In a recent survey, Deep Instinct discovered a database containing 250 million compromised email accounts. The firm claims that millions of them belong to governments in the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as agencies in Canada. The database contained more than 25 million Gmail addresses, 19 million Yahoo.com addresses and 11 million Hotmail.com addresses. AOL, MSN and Yahoo.co.uk were also affected. As DeepInstinct points out, TrickBot could use these emails to spread more of its own malware.

according to TechCrunch, the researchers detected TrickBooster for the first time on June 25th. Deep Instinct is still investigating and is sharing information with the authorities. The update is disturbing as it is widespread and, as Deep Instinct says, TrickBooster is a "powerful addition to TrickBot's vast arsenal of tools".
