Piers Morgan said a sick troll threatened to murder him in front of his three sons after accusing Meghan Markle of lying during his TV movie.
The former TV host wrote in the Mail on Sunday about threats he said were part of a “clearly orchestrated social media pile” after he trashed Markle’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“I’ve always subscribed to the ‘if you do it, you have to take it’ philosophy,” wrote the 55-year-old former “America’s Got Talent” judge.
“But my three sons told me that they too were all targeted and sent me screenshots of poisonous abuse and threats of violence against them,” he wrote of the sons. adults Spencer, Albert and Stanley.
“A troll swore to murder me in front of them and added, ‘When your father dies, the world will throw a party,'” he recalls.
The threats “made my stomach ache, especially since the police were already investigating a death threat made to me and my elder Spencer last month,” he wrote.
He was referring to a screenshot he shared February 16 of a death threat received by Spencer, who also threatened the son and his mother. The London Metropolitan Police confirmed to The Independent at the time that the threats were under investigation.
The former tabloid editor insisted that none of his sons “even care about Meghan Markle, let alone agree with my take on her.”
“Yet the Twitter troll crowd found them guilty by association,” he said.
In his lengthy first-person article, Morgan admitted he regretted being out of his then-show, “Good Morning Britain,” during an argument over the Oprah special with Markle and Prince Harry. .
“I knew it wasn’t a good look, the great snowflake hunter running away from confrontation. And after some thought, I shouldn’t have done it, ”he wrote.

Morgan also defended his friend Sharon Osbourne, who was banned from “The Talk” from American television after defending him.
He said their cases were about “a much bigger issue than a delusional Duchess”, instead reflecting “the right of everyone to be free to express their opinions honestly, with strength and passion if we so choose.
“If our rights to free speech are denied, then democracy as we know it will die,” he wrote.
