A man was arrested by the FBI and accused of planning a mass shooting in a church in Memphis, Tennessee.
The Associated Press reported Tuesday that court filings detailed the arrest and charges against Thomas Matthew McVicker, 38, who the office said was planning to attack an unspecified church on Thursday.
McVicker was apprehended in Indianapolis and made "credible threats to carry out mass shootings and suicide" to acquaintances who informed the FBI, according to affidavits filed Monday.
A friend of McVicker told law enforcement that he "was planning to take his knife and slice the pastor's throat" while "destroying a church," he said. 39; AP.
His friend told law enforcement officers that Mr. McVicker was largely living in a semi-sheath, while his mother told the police that he had already abused methamphetamine and cocaine and that He had a handgun.
