PResident Trump announced Sunday morning that his administration would hold "one of the largest gatherings" in Washington's history on July 4th.

"Hold the date!" Said Trump. "It will be titled" A Salute To America "and will be held at the Lincoln Memorial.A big fireworks, entertainment and an address from your favorite president, me!"

Trump announced the event earlier this month at a Cabinet meeting and suggested that it become an annual tradition.

The capital of the country already offers on July 4 an event in the National Mall, titled A Capitol Fourth, which includes fireworks, a parade and a free concert.

Last year, Trump called for a military parade to celebrate veterans. He finally abandoned this idea, accusing local authorities of the high costs involved.

The proposed event divided lawmakers, those who opposed it claiming that a parade was a waste of funds that could be used to help veterans. Critics also said the parade would recall military demonstrations organized by authoritarian regimes.
