WASHINGTON (Reuters) – US President Donald Trump has urged General Motors Co (GM.N) to reopen the Ohio plant in a tweet Saturday, ten days after the last Chevrolet Cruze.
The last Cruze left the assembly line a week ago Wednesday at the GM plant in Lordstown, Ohio, the first of five plants in North America to end production this year and production American Cruze.
In a tweet, Trump said, "Because the economy is so good, General Motors has to open its plant in Lordstown, Ohio, perhaps in a different form or with a new owner, FAST!"
Trump added, "Toyota is investing $ 13.5 billion in the United States, and so are others. G.M. MUST ACT FAST. Hurry up!
Toyota plans to invest nearly $ 13 billion over five years.
GM did not immediately respond to requests for comments late Saturday.
