Trump Banks Refuse To Tell Judges When They Have His Tax Returns

A panel of three judges asked the banks if the documents submitted to House Democrats' subpoenas for financial records could include Trump's tax returns. After repeatedly refusing to answer, the banks will file letters to the court within 48 hours on the subject, although the information provided by the banks in their writings is unclear, according to reports.

The judges questioned the banks about Trump's tax returns at the hearing for a case in which the president challenged the subpoenas of House Democrats.

House Financial Services and Intelligence commissions sent subpoenas to banks earlier this year for financial information on Trump. Trump's personal lawyers then filed a lawsuit to prevent the banks from handing over the documents.

In May, a federal court ruled in favor of Democrats in the House. Subpoenas are not executed while the case is on appeal.

The lawsuit is one of many cases in which Democrats in the House seek Trump's financial information.

A federal court of appeal in Washington, DC, last month, heard arguments in a case concerning the Democrats' subpoena for Trump's financial information provided by the accounting firm Mazars.

And last month, the Democrats filed a lawsuit in an attempt to summon a court to compel the Treasury Department and the IRS to provide them with Trump's federal tax returns. Democrats tabled a motion earlier this week to speed up the case, which the administration is challenging.
