The Democratic National Committee is still pursuing its lawsuit, alleging that the Trump campaign had actively collaborated with Russia and WikiLeaks to steal and publish DNC emails – but the campaign quotes the Mueller report itself as saying they have no business.

Calling the DNC's request "frivolous", the campaign even asked the judge to impose financial penalties on the party for maintaining a case based on "the assumption" that the campaign "would have conspired or coordinated" with Russia in hacking and publishing emails from the DNC. The complaint alleged that the campaign had also "solicited" illegal assistance from Russia.

"Suffice to say that this assumption has not materialized," said Tuesday the Trump campaign in court. "On the contrary: the costly investigation of Special Prosecutor Mueller definitely refuted the thesis that the campaign would have conspired or co-ordinated in any way with Russia.

"In summary, since the frivolous legal theories of the DNC have been exposed as relying on frivolous factual fantasies, these are two independent reasons to put an end to this fake political litigation before it does even more harm" .

According to the document, with the "vast body of evidence" that Mueller had gathered during his investigation of Russian electoral interference, they could not show that the election campaign had any connection with Russia's activities. "In doing so, the report makes it clear that the DNC will never be able to prove the underlying key claims. all of his claims against the campaign ".

The Trump campaign argued that Mueller's report should have prompted the DNC to drop the lawsuit, claiming that it proved that there was no basis.

"The DNC, however, refused to accept this reality," says the court document, noting that the Democrats "categorically doubled" in opposing the campaign's revocation motion "just a few hours later. publication of the report ".

Ironically, the campaign cited an interview that DNC President Tom Perez gave ABC when the trial began. When asked if he feared that President Trump would react with a lawsuit, Mr. Perez said: "There is an article called Rule 11, where you are punished," referring to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure which provides for sanctions against those who file frivolous lawsuits.

The Trump campaign now claims that Rule 11 can be used to penalize the DNC with both pecuniary sanctions and the rejection of the lawsuit.

The DNC has not responded to Fox News's request for comment. When the Mueller report was released for the first time, the DNC issued a statement claiming that it presented "a startling picture of bottomless corruption" and that Congress needed to see the full report.

"When a foreign opponent attacked our democracy, Donald Trump and his team were delighted to reap the benefits," the statement said.

Although the Mueller report indicates that the Trump campaign hoped to benefit electrically from Russia's actions, he also clarified that the investigation conducted in Russia "did not establish that members of the Trump campaign had conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its activities of electoral interference ".

Mueller has not reached a conclusion on the fact that Trump has or has not hindered justice in connection with the investigation.
