President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for the overturning of President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory and spread unproven allegations of electoral fraud while falsely insisting he won a series of key states that were going to Biden.
Faced with defeat after a string of court defeats, Trump made a surprise appearance at a Republican state legislature hearing in Gettysburg, Pa., Where he bluntly said “we must reverse the election “.
Trump claimed his team had gathered “all the evidence,” even though judges in many states have rejected his campaign’s legal efforts to halt ballot certification or invalidate sections of postal votes.
“All we need is a judge to listen to it properly, without having a political opinion or having any other kind of problem,” Trump said from a cell phone speaker held at a microphone by Jenna Ellis, a member of her campaign legal team. She sat next to Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani.
“This election needs to be reversed,” Trump asserted elsewhere in the speaker’s speech. “We’ve won Pennsylvania a lot and we’ve won all of those swing states by a lot.”
In fact, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced Tuesday that he had signed the “certificate of verification” certifying Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris as the winners in Keystone state. Nevada, another key state, also certified Biden and Harris as the winners on Tuesday. Michigan and Georgia also certified their votes, dragging Trump’s long-term attempt to overturn the election result even further out of reach.

More than three weeks after Election Day and weeks after the media called Biden the race, Trump has still refused to concede. He tweeted Monday night that he will “never concede” to Biden, who is expected to win 306 Electoral College votes – 36 more than he needed to win the presidency.
The president’s remarks came just days after a key federal agency told Biden it would make resources available for his White House transition.
As Trump spoke, Biden, his successor, gave an official Thanksgiving speech from Wilmington, Delaware.
“This is the time when we need to strengthen our thorns, redouble our efforts and re-engage in the fight” against the coronavirus, Biden said. “Remember, we are all in the same boat.”
“So wait. Don’t let the fatigue give you up,” Biden said, addressing a nation tired of pandemic restrictions but facing a huge spike in cases.
“I know we can and will beat this virus. America will not lose this war. We will get our lives back, and life will get back to normal, I promise you,” Biden said. “It won’t last forever.”
Biden’s transition team did not immediately respond to a CNBC request for comment on Trump’s side.
The president-elect is expected to visit his family home in Rehobeth, Delaware, later this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff made an unannounced visit to DC Central Kitchen, a food bank that plans to serve at least 10,000 meals on Thanksgiving Day.
