Michigan's representative, Justin Amash, said Saturday that President Donald Trump "has engaged in impeccable conduct" by obstructing justice, breaking the ranks of a Republican party that has rallied in defense of the President following the findings of the investigation conducted by Robert Mueller as part of the investigation into Russia.

Amash also accused Attorney General William Barr of "deliberately" skewing the Mueller report and misleading the public with "sleight of hand".

In a series of posts on Twitter, Amash criticized members of Congress for being too partisan and failing to fulfill their constitutional duty, saying that very few members had read Mueller's full report. He warned that partisanship could erode the nation's system of constitutional controls.

The Republican representative, a libertarian who often goes against his party, said he had reached the conclusion that Trump had obstructed justice after carefully reading the full report drafted by the special council.

Amash said that Mueller's report revealed multiple cases of Trump's obstruction of justice and that while he was not president, he would be liable to an indictment based on such evidence.

Amash stated that the dismissal "simply requires the finding that a manager has engaged in careless, abusive, corrupt or otherwise dishonorable conduct". He also warned that Congress might encourage mistakes by reducing the impeachment process.

The call for the dismissal of Amash goes further than many Democrats. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, for example, has repeatedly reiterated that she currently does not support the impeachment process because it would only divide the country.
