A few hours after the murder of one student and eight wounded during a Tuesday shootout in a Colorado school, President Donald Trump had not personally commented on the attack. However, in the meantime, he had chosen to tweet about a wide variety of other topics.

Deciding not to join the group of elected officials expressing their sympathy for the students and families affected by the STEM School Highlands Ranch attack, Mr. Trump focused Tuesday night on all that was going from the election of 2016 to the economy.

Shortly after 9 pm, the President tweeted and retweeted 11 times over the next 90 minutes. He retweeted about his approval ratings and a message celebrating the percentage of women's contributions from the campaign. He also tweeted about the great golfer Tiger Woods, to whom he had awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and retweeted Ronna McDaniel, president of the RNC, criticizing Hillary Clinton for her campaign.

Trump's silence on the attack contrasts with previous mass shootings, where the president had used Twitter to express his sympathies. Trump contacted Twitter in New Zealand a few hours after the March shooting in a mosque in Christchurch. On April 27, he tweeted about the fatal shooting at a synagogue in California.

The White House issued a statement in which it offers condolences to the people affected by the shooting, adding that Trump "has been informed and continues to monitor the situation."

"Our prayers are with the victims, family members and all those affected by the shooting today at STEM School Highlands Ranch in Littleton, Colorado. Tragically, this community and its surroundings know all too well these heinous and heinous acts of violence, "the statement said. We offer our full support to local law enforcement and first responders and we thank them for their heroism. "

But Trump's Twitter feed took on a very different tone.

"I'm happy to inform you that THE BIG FIREWORKS, after many years without success, is coming back to beautiful Mount Rushmore in South Dakota," Trump wrote on Tuesday night.
