President Trump hit back at Andrew Cuomo after the governor of New York gave a dazzling speech at the Democratic National Convention criticizing the White House’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump also tweeted a clip from Cuomo saying the White House team had “been on it, been responsive, late at night, early in the morning.”

Other Republicans were also quick to criticize Cuomo’s speech, in which he criticized the Trump administration for its handling of the pandemic.

Matt Whitlock, a senior adviser to the Republican National Senate Committee, called Cuomo’s comments about his administration’s success in dealing with the virus “so crass.”
The United States has nearly 5.5 million cases of COVID-19, the most in the world, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. More than 170,000 people have died from the virus – and cases continue to rise in many parts of the country.
