Trump refused to publish his tax returns in the 2016 election, as all other presidential candidates had done before him. He did not give up his place as president, to the anger of the Democrats.
Welsh House Committee on Ways and Means, Richard Neal, D-Mass., On Friday assigned the Treasury Department and the IRS to provide six years of personal income tax returns and Trump companies.
Other House committees have already assigned the banks and Trump's accountant to appear in order to obtain his financial statements. The President challenges the merits of these subpoenas to appear in court, claiming that Congress exceeds its constitutional authority to obtain its financial information.
The conflict is likely to be resolved in court.
