Trump lawyer: Former election security chief Krebs should be “taken and shot” | U.S. Elections 2020

Former US election security chief who said Joe Biden’s defeat of Donald Trump was not the subject of election fraud should be ‘pulled out at dawn and shot,’ Trump campaign lawyer said .

The condemnation of Joe DiGenova’s remark about Chris Krebs was swift, including calls for his delisting and the accusation that he was behaving like a “mafia lawyer.”

Krebs was fired as head of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (Cisa) on November 17, shortly after declaring that the election, contrary to Trump’s claims, “was the safest in American history.”

Krebs also used Twitter to publicly debunk Trump’s conspiracy theories.

DiGenova has defended the president in the Russia inquiry and is now embroiled in attempts to overturn the results in battlefield states. The Trump campaign won a lawsuit – and lost 39.

DiGenova made the remark about Krebs on The Howie Carr Show, a YouTube podcast and Trump-allied Newsmax TV, on Monday.

“Anyone who thinks the election went well,” he said, “like that idiot Krebs who was the head of cybersecurity, this guy is a Class A jerk. He should be drawn and cut in. four. Went out at dawn and shot. “

Carr did not dispute the remark.

A day earlier, Krebs had told CBS 60 Minutes that Trump was trying to “undermine democracy … undermine confidence in elections, confuse people, scare people.”

Asset called this “ridiculous, one-sided” interview [and] an international joke ”.

DiGenova is not the first close Trump aide to call for the death of an official at the expense of the president. In early November, former White House campaign chief and strategist Steve Bannon said FBI Director Christopher Wray and public health expert Anthony Fauci should be beheaded. He was banned from Twitter.

DiGenova said Trump’s legal team “was talking to the jury, trying to influence the jury. And that includes state judges and legislatures. And the governors of those states are a losing group, along with their secretaries of state. I’ve never seen such wimps wear an R [being Republican].

“You know, they’re going to have to be treated politically. This is the only way to deal with these people.

Brad Raffensperger, the Republican Secretary of State for Georgia who resisted attempts to undo Biden’s victory there, said he and his wife had received death threats from Trump supporters.

The condemnation of DiGenova’s remark about Krebs was swift.

Lois Clark, executive director of the Government Accountability Project, said in a statement: “Threats like these start an avalanche. They terrorize other whistleblowers in silence. This is befitting behavior for a Mafia lawyer.

Frank Figliuzzi, former deputy director of the FBI, said DiGenova had made “a threat of reprisals involving Krebs’ official duties, in violation of Federal Law Title 18 USC 351”.

Andrew Weissmann, former Federal Prosecutor and Senior Assistant to Special Advocate Robert Mueller in the Russia Inquiry, tweeted that the remark was “shocking” and that DiGenova should “at least face the delisting”.

Krebs, he said, had displayed “fearless integrity.”
