Former President Trump made a surprise visit with New York City police and firefighters on Saturday to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
In remarks to the assembled guests, the former president strongly berated President Biden and the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
“It was blatant incompetence and I hate to talk about it that day”, Trump said.
Trump left the NYPD’s 17th Quarter in the downtown area just after 1:40 p.m. He walked out to cheers and applause, with a sympathizer shouting, “Thank you for keeping us safe.”
“I have received so much support from the people who do what you do,” Trump said to the friendly audience. “We love blue. I will say it loudly. You know, you’re not supposed to say that. We love blue.
Officers lined up outside the train station to greet the former president. Trump shook hands and posed for photos before walking next to Ladder Co. 2, where he also signed autographs.
