President Donald Trump said Thursday that he did not want the former White House lawyer, Don McGahn, to testify before Congress about allegations that the president had obstructed the justice.

"Congress should no longer look. That's all. It's done, "Trump told Fox News. "Nobody ever did what I did. I gave full transparency. It never happened before like that. They should not look anymore. It's done. "

Trump said he had allowed McGahn to speak to special advocate Robert Mueller and that was enough. "I've had him testify for 30 hours," he said.

McGahn told Mueller that Trump had ordered him to fire the special lawyer, according to Mueller's report on Russia's interference in the 2016 election. But Attorney General William Barr said that Mueller had not found sufficient evidence of obstruction.

Democrats in the House are eager to hear from McGahn and others as they continue to consider numerous allegations of obstruction.

Earlier this week, Barr said Trump would decide if McGahn will testify before Congress even when he left the government. "It's a call the president has to make," said Barr.

The House Democrats are investigating Trump, his finances, and his policy, but the White House has in many cases refused to provide the committees with the information they had requested.

"I guess they've looked at my taxes," the president told Fox News. "I guess Mueller looked at my financial statements, with 20 people and 49 FBI agents, as well as all the staff and all the money spent. I presume that for the $ 35 million, my taxes, my financial statements, which are phenomenal, they have lived no matter what. And I'm so clean. Think about it, two and a half years and all that money spent, nothing. Very few people could have borne that. "
