President Trump met Saturday with FEMA representatives at Camp David to discuss the response to Hurricane Dorian. Mr Trump has canceled a weekend visit to Poland to plan the potentially catastrophic storm that could affect more than 20 million Americans.
Trump briefly left Camp David for the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., Saturday morning, according to reports from the pool. He returned to the presidential retirement on Saturday afternoon.
The White House press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, said the president had been informed every hour of the storm and that he had "participated in several phone calls". Asked about a video posted by The Hill claiming to show Mr. Trump playing golf, Grisham replied, "I do not know at all what is this video."
Dorian could spare Florida from a direct hit and touch South Carolina on Wednesday or Thursday. The state of emergency is in effect for all states of Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina and 12 counties of Georgia.
Trump retweeted Saturday several tweets from the National Hurricane Center, FEMA and the American Red Cross, providing information on the storm. He also warned in a tweet that "our big South Carolina could be hit MUCH stronger than expected."
