Trump on Omar: "She has a very bad way"

President Trump continued to criticize the representative, Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., A day after the congressman said that a video posted by the president had resulted in an increase in death threats against her.

In an interview with KSTP-TV in Minneapolis, Trump was asked about the publication of a video on Twitter citing a quote from the US-Somali congressman, illustrating the September 11 attacks.

"Not at all, look, she was very disrespectful to this country and herself to Israel," said Trump. "It's someone who does not really understand life, real life, what it is. "

The broadcast of KSTP-TV was then mounted, followed by Trump, who continued his reflections on Omar.

"It's unfortunate, she has a very, very bad way for our country," said the president. "I think she's extremely unpatriotic and extremely disrespectful towards our country."

Last week, conservative politicians and media denounced Omar in a speech misunderstood as downplaying the gravity of the Sept. 11 attack. At a fundraiser for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Omar said the organization "was created after September 11 because she recognized that some people had done something and that we all begin to lose access to our civil liberties. " (CAIR was founded in 1994. According to the Washington Post, Omar's spokeswoman said that she was misquoted and that she "was referring to the fact that the Organization had doubled in size after the September 11 attacks. ")

Brian Kilmeade, chairman of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, and Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas, emphasized the phrase "some people did something" to criticize the US member of the Muslim Congress as non-American. Kilmeade, who had said, "You must be wondering if she is an American first," later returned to her comment.

Omar issued a statement on Sunday night in which he said Trump's video resulted in an increase in death threats.

"Since the president's tweet Friday night, the direct threats to my life have increased – many referring directly to the president's video or responding to it," Omar said. "I thank the Capitol Police, the FBI, the Sergeant-at-Arms and the Speaker of the House for their attention to these threats."

Earlier this month, a New York man and declared supporter of Trump was arrested by federal authorities for allegedly threatening to kill Omar.
