Former president Asset Saturday hinted that he could run for president again in 2024 during a visit to mark the 20th anniversary of 9/11 to the 17th New York Police Department (NYPD) station.
The former president, originally from New York, briefly mentioned the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center, the recent withdrawal from Afghanistan and answered questions from the police.
Trump called the 20th anniversary of September 11 a “very sad day for many reasons”, referring to both the attack and the botched withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in recent weeks, and praised the brave officers of the NYPD.
“I grew up with you and you are the best in New York City. You are amazing people. I know a lot of you,” Trump said.

The former president also called Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan “serious incompetence” and criticized other aspects of the US withdrawal.
When an NYPC officer asked him if he would run for president a second time, Trump replied, “That’s a tough question.”
“Actually, for me it’s an easy question. I mean, I know what I’m going to do, but I’m not supposed to talk about it yet from a campaign finance law perspective, which, frankly, are ridiculous, ”Trump said.

“But I think you are going to be happy,” said the former president.

Trump went on to tout the economy, national employment numbers, regulatory setbacks and increased funding for the military under his administration. He also suggested that his administration “got along with the other side” while he was in office.

The House of Representatives made history in January when members of Congress voted for the second time to impeach Trump a week after the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill and days before President Biden was sworn in as as the 46th President of the United States.
The former president and his allies have previously hinted that he will stand for re-election in 2024.
