Trump says he is ‘ashamed’ to endorse Georgia governor

President Trump said on Sunday he regretted endorsing Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, a fellow Republican, saying he “did absolutely nothing” to advance Trump’s election fraud allegation in State of Peach.

In a phone interview with Fox News, Trump singled out Kemp and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger for failing to help him fight his loss in the state.

“Everything has to be approved by the legislature, and judges have made deals, and election officials have made deals, like this character in Georgia who is a disaster,” Trump said of Raffensberger in the interview with presenter Maria Bartiromo.

“And the governor didn’t do anything,” Trump said. “I am ashamed to have approved it. But I watch what’s going on, it’s so terrible.

Official results show former Vice President Joe Biden edged Trump in Georgia by almost 13,000 votes after a recount of the ballot.

But the president refused to accept his loss in several key states, including Georgia, and has repeatedly claimed that the elections were rigged against him.

His comments on Sunday come as the state prepares for a runoff January 5 elections for two key Senate seats.
