President Donald Trump said Sunday that a recent visit to two immigration detention centers "clearly showed … how well facilities are run and clean."

"Friday's visit has clearly shown politicians and the media how child detention centers are being managed and cleaned up." Asset tweeted, adding that "the areas reserved for single adult men were clean but cluttered – also populated with a high percentage of criminals".

"Sorry, I can not let them into our country," said Trump. "If you are too busy, tell them not to come to the US and tell the Dems to fix the loopholes – problem solved!"

Trump was referring to Friday's visit by Vice President Mike Pence to two Texas detention centers in McAllen and Donna, joined by several Republican congressional members and the media.

Mr. Pence has witnessed the conditions at the McAllen facility: "Nearly 400 men huddled behind caged barriers do not have enough room to lie down," the Washington Post reported.

The men had no carpets or pillows on which to lie down and a strong smell permeated the air, reported the newspaper. Some men shouted to reporters and the delegation that they were detained in the facility for 40 days or more and that they were hungry and wanted to brush their teeth. The men had to ask permission from customs and border officials to drink water, according to the newspaper.

At the Donna plant, which was only two months old, the conditions seemed slightly better, reported the post office.

"I was not surprised by what I saw," said Pence at a press conference after the tour. "I knew we would have seen an outdated system. It's hard. "
