Former President Donald Trump spoke about the importance of in-person learning, despite concerns about the Delta variant of the coronavirus, telling Fox News’ Dan Bongino: “Children must go back to school.”

“You know, it turns out that computers are wonderful and all that. But one thing we learned in college and school, undergraduate, everything, is being in school. school is much better than looking at a computer screen, ”Trump said on Saturday. on “Unfiltered with Dan Bongino.”

The former president mentioned that the teachers’ union “is changing” saying: “The mandates are crazy, what they are doing with schools now”.

School districts across the country have had divergent views on the masks mandates for children as Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis last week signed an executive order allowing parents to decide in state public schools.

As part of Operation Warp Speed, Trump has been a constant cheerleader in his administration’s efforts to develop a COVID vaccine. “Vaccines are turning out to be a great thing,” he told Bongino. “It’s something I’m very proud of.”

Trump also stressed that someone should be allowed to have the “choice” to get vaccinated.

“I really believe in someone’s choice, in someone’s freedom,” he said. “I am a big fan of our freedoms and people have to make this choice for themselves.”

Trump also acknowledged the social impact of distance learning on young people amid the pandemic.

“The schools must reopen. These young people are losing a large part of their life and they are not going to recover from it,” he said. “Schools have to open up. What they’re going through socially, I mean, they don’t deal with people. I don’t think they ever – it’s going to leave a scar in their life. It’s going to leave a psychological scar. ”

“The kids need to go back to school,” Trump said. “Our children need to be educated.”
