US President Donald Trump has asked cruise lines to help the Bahamas further by providing housing assistance in a Twitter post.
"@USCG, @FEMA and other countries, as well as other countries that have helped, have been asked to move people from the hard-hit areas of the Bahamas to other parts of the Bahamas that do not have not been affected – and are currently in the area – in good condition, all cruise companies willing to act as fixed accommodations, etc. would surely be appreciated! "

Cruise lines are not unfamiliar with the lending of their ships, as FEMA has already chartered the Carnival Fascination and Grand Celebration following the hurricanes of 2017; Carnival also chartered vessels to FEMA following Hurricane Katrina to help house the rescuers.
Displaced residents and rescuers in Grand Bahama will be short of housing, cruise ships, ferries and accommodation vessels potentially able to help.
Cruise lines have intensified dramatically in the Bahamas, delivering supplies, rescue workers and even helping to evacuate.
