President Trump tore up a pre-election poll on Wednesday in key battlefield state of Wisconsin, which showed him behind Joe Biden by 17 points, calling it “illegal removal.”
“The @ ABC / @ washingtonpost Fake Pollsters produced a possibly illegal removal poll days before the election, showing me a 17-point drop in Wisconsin when in fact, on election day the race was tied – and we are now preparing to win the state, ”Trump tweeted.
“Lots of these ‘deplorable’ cases!” Trump added.
The president was referring to an ABC News-Washington Post poll released in late October, which found Biden leading 57% to Trump’s 40% in Wisconsin.
But on Election Day, the margins were razor thin in the state, in Biden’s favor. With 99% reporting Wednesday morning, Biden topped 1,630,570 votes against 1,610,030 for Trump, a margin of 0.7%.

Last week Trump’s campaign manager Bill Stepien criticized the poll, calling it “ridiculous” and also calling it a “voter suppression tactic.”
“Wisconsin was a very fine race as we’ve always known,” Stepien said last week. “There have been reports of irregularities in several counties in Wisconsin which raise serious doubts about the validity of the results.”
He added: “The president is well within the threshold to request a recount, and we will do so immediately.”
Wisconsin does not have a provision that triggers an automatic recount when it is elected. In order to conduct a recount at the request of a candidate, the race must be separated by a margin of 1% or less.

Fox News’ decision-making office organized the race in Biden on Saturday after results in Pennsylvania and Nevada put him above the threshold of 270 electoral votes needed to achieve Electoral College victory.
Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris have tried to calm the public down, insisting that all votes will be counted no matter how long it takes.
“It’s time for America to unite. And to heal,” Biden said in a statement after his victory was declared.
The Trump campaign has filed lawsuits in several battlefield states where Biden was ruled by a razor-thin margin, including Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Georgia.
