The president's remarks follow the democrats' failure this week to gather the support needed to pass a bill that would avoid spending cuts of $ 126 billion over the fiscal year beginning October 1, as well as subsequent discounts.

Although the proposal brings discretionary spending to about $ 1.3 trillion for the next fiscal year, the Trump administration says it would lead to an increase in spending of nearly $ 2 trillion over 10 years.
