President Donald Trump is expected to travel to Pennsylvania on Wednesday to address an event organized by Republicans promoting baseless allegations of electoral fraud in the state, Axios and CNN reported.

A source told Axios plans could still change, but the visit would only be Trump’s first trip outside of the Washington, DC area since this month’s loss of election to Joe Biden.

Sources told Axios and CNN Trump was expected to join his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani at a Gettysburg hotel to meet with the Republican-led Senate Majority Policy Committee to discuss so-called “electoral issues and irregularities.”

State Senator Doug Mastriano called for the meeting to take place amid the Trump campaign’s refusal to drop its legal challenges to the Pennsylvania election result. The Battlefield State officially certified its result on Tuesday, with Biden beating Trump by 80,555 votes and getting his 20 electoral college votes.

The event would be the first of several planned in battlefield states aimed at undermining Biden’s election victory, CNN reported.

Jenna Ellis, a lawyer working on the Trump campaign, said the outgoing president’s legal team would not “back down” despite state officials certifying Biden’s victory.

“It is in everyone’s best interest to have full control over electoral irregularities and fraud,” Giuliani said in a statement reported by Bloomberg.

“And the only way to do that is to hold public hearings, with witnesses, videos, photos and other evidence of illegality in the November 3 election.”

Trump and his campaign continue to insist, without evidence, that widespread electoral fraud led to his defeat earlier this month, and Pennsylvania has been at the center of their baseless claims.

Speaking after Pennsylvania certified its election result, Biden campaign adviser Bob Bauer said: “It is obvious to everyone except Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis that this election is finished and Joe Biden scored a resounding victory. “

He added: “Trump has done everything he can to deprive voters of their right to vote and prevent results from being certified in Pennsylvania, including filing more than 15 unsuccessful lawsuits – most recently filing one of the most embarrassing courtroom performances ever, with the judge in ruling that their arguments were “baseless” and “unsupported by evidence.”

“Trump did not succeed in Pennsylvania and he will not succeed anywhere else.”
