President Donald Trump is either announcing a pending decision or refraining from a long-standing decree that would ban US operators from using Chinese-based telecom equipment. The imminent statement was reported, the latest in the beginning of the month, when Politico announced that Trump had planned to sign the order before the Barcelona MWC, which will begin in a few days.
A pair of tweets sent from Trump's Twitter account this morning indicate that he wants US sellers and telecom operators to win without the help of political maneuvers. It has also increased the pressure on US operators and suppliers to deploy next-generation networks faster.
"I want 5G technology and even 6G in the US as soon as possible. It is much more powerful, faster and smarter than the current standard, " Trump wrote.

"US companies must redouble their efforts or be left behind," he wrote. "There is no reason for us to be behind something as obvious as the future. I want the United States to prevail through competition and not by blocking more advanced technologies. "
The comments seem to indicate a change of strategy regarding a possible ban on Huawei and ZTE equipment. However, gauging Trump's thought or possible decisions is a relatively futile effort. If he and the administration plan to publish an order before the MWC in Barcelona, time is running out.
