The study found that 42% of women approve of Trump's professional performance, down 3 percentage points from an identical survey conducted between July 20th and 21st.

Trump's overall approval among suburban voters remained steady at 44 percent last month.

HarrisX researchers surveyed 2,002 registered voters online from August 18-20. The survey has an overall margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.

The poll comes as Trump seeks to boost support for women, especially women in the suburbs, who are seen as a crucial electoral bloc ahead of the 2020 elections.

Trump's re-election campaign announced Thursday its intention to launch a transnational effort to mobilize women in the suburbs. Dozens of surrogates should join the voters in the suburbs of at least 13 states to encourage them to vote Republican.

Campaign leaders presented this initiative as a celebration of women's suffrage. The Trump campaign will formally unveil its strategy at an event held Thursday night in Tampa, Florida, around the 99th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which guarantees women the right to vote.

Several of the states targeted by the Trump campaign are areas that have enabled Democrats to win a victory by allowing them to win back the Parliament in the mid-term elections of 2018. CNN exit polls showed that women supported the Democrats at the expense of Republicans in the 2018 elections with a margin of 19 points.
