Trump’s blunt weapon for revenge is the Republican state parties

President Trump did not have to punish his detractors in Congress – his back-state allies immediately and eagerly did the dirty work.

Why is this important: Virtually all Republicans who supported impeachment were censored at home or threatened with a major challenge.

  • Today to Sunday, many will make the trip to a sold-out CPAC (“America Uncanceled”) in Orlando to kiss the ring – and destroy the “traitors.”

We see quickly that Trump’s true source of energy is in the States, fueled by the success of 2020.

  • Republicans picked up 14 seats in the House, including a dozen lost two years earlier. They need +6 in 2022.
  • In 2021, the Republicans will have full control of legislative and executive powers in 24 states. Democrats will have full control of the legislative and executive branch in 15 states.
  • “Republicans hold full control of redistribution in 18 states, including Florida, North Carolina and Texas, whose populations are growing and expected to gain seats after the 2020 census, ”reports the NY Times (subscription). “Some election experts believe the GOP could take over the House in 2022 based solely on the gains of the newly drawn districts.”
  • Democrats targeted new states to reverse control and lack in all.

The bottom line: Watch how state parties censor anti-Trump people. In the eyes of the grassroots, the party has thrived under Trump – and views anti-Trump as the reason the GOP hasn’t done even better.
