Trump’s campaign lawyer calls for fired DHS election security official to be ‘shot’

Chris Krebs has spoken out against the president’s election fraud allegations.

Joe DiGenova said former Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) director Chris Krebs “should be drawn and quartered, removed at dawn and shot.”

DiGenova, speaking on conservative news outlet Newsmax, said Krebs was an “idiot”.

“The mail in the ballot is inherently corrupt and this election has proven it,” diGenova told host Howie Carr. “It wasn’t a coincidence, it was all planned out. Anyone who thinks this election went well like that idiot Krebs,” he said. “This guy is a Class A jerk,” said diGenova. “He should be drawn and quartered, brought out at dawn and shot.”

Krebs was sacked by the president last month after repeatedly speaking out against the president’s various claims, saying the election was the safest in U.S. history.

“Chris Krebs’ recent statement on the security of the 2020 elections was very inaccurate, in that there were massive irregularities and fraud,” Trump said in a tweet.

“Therefore, with immediate effect, Chris Krebs has been fired as Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.”

Krebs, on NBC’s “Today” show Tuesday morning, said diGenova’s comments were examples of “more dangerous language, more dangerous behavior.”

“We are a nation of laws, and I plan to take advantage of those laws,” Krebs said. “I have an exceptional team of winning lawyers in court and I think they’re going to be busy.” Adding that his team is exploring all options, but warning that “they may know there are things to come”.

On CBS’s “60 Minutes” show over the weekend, Krebs defended his work in running the agency to secure the 2020 election by saying, “I did it right, we did it right. . It was a safe election ”and“ there was no indication or evidence that there was any sort of hack or compromise of the electoral systems on November 3, before or after ”.

To add that the Trump campaign claims to hack voting machines, for example, is “absurd.”

Trump hit back on Twitter.

“. @ 60Minutes never asked us to comment on their ridiculous, one-sided electoral security story, which is an international joke. Least secure EVER!” The president said on Sunday.

Krebs was on thin ice with the president for the entire month of November, particularly after the election when he repeatedly tweeted from his official CISA account, correcting the lies alleged by the president’s campaign.

The former CISA chief told NBC on Tuesday that he was “grateful” to the president for giving him the opportunity to serve, but that when you enter federal service, they take an oath to the Constitution.

Krebs and the Department of Homeland Security did not respond to ABC News’ request for comment.
