Tua Tagovailoa insists Brian Flores win game against Cardinals

Head coach and quarterback combinations are what the NFL dynasties are made of. And while the young Miami Dolphins duo of Brian Flores and Tua Tagovailoa are incredibly early in their respective NFL careers to declare this as a possible dynasty duo, the early returns are certainly exciting for the Miami Dolphins. Miami, who hit the reset button in January 2019 and bonded with Flores as the team’s head coach, bet big on Tagovailoa’s surgically repaired hip as they sought to secure the second half of the couple last April.

Miami is now 10-14 under Flores (10-7 in the last 17 games) and 2-0 with Tagovailoa behind center.

There is no doubt that this pair’s defining moments await them. But a special moment between the two was filmed in the aftermath of the Dolphins’ 34-31 win over the Arizona Cardinals – and it is sure to give Dolphins fans goosebumps just as they think about what l The future could hold for us.

Tagovailoa had just done his part to help put the finishing touches to a 10-0 advantage in the 4th quarter and a victory from behind. And as he ran off the pitch, he was greeted by Flores – and as the two hugs, Tagovailoa quickly presented him with the soccer ball from the final shots of the match.

“This is for you.”

Flores, to his credit, did his best to turn the ball down and suggested it belonged to Tagovailoa – but the rookie quarterback refused.

“No. No no No. Thank you,” Tagovailoa said while assuring that his coach left with football.

The relationship between Flores and Tagovailoa has been, at this point, something of a mystery. Flores made the bold decision to make the quarterback trade amid all the fanfare and adoration for Ryan Fitzpatrick, quite certainly a tough decision to make. And in the days and weeks since, we really haven’t really understood how the two interact. That is, of course, with the exception of Flores ‘fierce defense against Tagovailoa over reports that the Dolphins’ quarterback change was indeed a ‘try’ as the season for the Houston Texans (whose picks belong to Miami) continues to circle the drain.

This exchange between the two? This is our best look at the Flores / Tagovailoa relationship to date – and it shows a clear mutual respect for each other; a critical layer for Miami’s future, as the two will now be linked together. As one succeeds, the other will succeed.

There seems to be quite a bit of success in their two futures.
