Tuesday night development with Satterfield

Several reports downplay Louisville coach Scott Satterfield and its connection to the vacant position in South Carolina.

On Tuesday evening, Cardinal Authority spoke with Louisville athletic director Vince Tyra, who said Satterfield does not have an interview with South Carolina, to replace Will muschamp. Journalists from SportsIllustrated and The Courier Journal also said Satterfield would not go ahead with the Gamecocks.

“He was upset by the innuendo that he was doing an interview and wants to make sure he secures the recruits he hired,” Tyra said. “The rookies were his first concern and he feels like he did that and told them he was going to be here in Louisville.”

Satterfield tweeted that he “did not pursue or seek” another coaching job.

TheBigSpur reported on Tuesday afternoon that Satterfield would be on the candidate list for South Carolina President Bob Caslen. Satterfield, who coached Appalachian State from 2013 to 2018, was reportedly among the names to watch a year ago, had Will muschamp was not retained after the 2019 season.

TheBigSpur wrote on Tuesday morning that others would have more momentum. Listed in no particular order, Hugh freeze (Freedom), Billy Napier (Louisiana), Jamey chadwell (Carolina Coastal) and Oklahoma coach tight ends Shane beamer would be among the best candidates for Gamecocks.
