Washington's "hyper-partisan" atmosphere is hindering significant progress in approving the path to citizenship for dreamers, Tulsi Gabbard said.
Rep. Gabbard, D-Hawaii, reacted when the Democrat-led House enacted the Dream and Promise Act, which would protect people covered by the DACA (Deferred Action for Child Arrivals) program of the era. Obama, in an interview Wednesday in "The Story."
Gabbard, a candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential election, said the deep political gap is holding back Congress' ability to help those affected to access citizenship.

"The hyper-partisanship around this issue has prevented providing a real solution," she said. "This legislation and the search for a solution for these dreamers is something that has benefited from bipartite support."
The veteran of the army added that the Dreamers and the recipients of DACA were treated unjustly without fault on their part.
"This bill, adopted with the support of both parties, seeks to solve a very worrying problem regarding the way in which people have been brought here in this country as children without choice on their part. [and] lived in fear and uncertainty, with no way to the future. "
She added that affected people only knew their lives in the United States and should be treated better than they are.
"Those people who have not known any country other than the United States of America should have the opportunity to obtain their citizenship.This Bill provides the way forward."
Despite a veto threat from President Trump, Democrats in the House passed the Dreams and Promises Act on Tuesday.

The votes 237-187 sparked songs of "Si Se Puede" or "Yes We Can" to the chamber. The measure may not succeed in the GOP-led Senate, where other laws proposed by Democrats on issues such as gun control, health care and climate change have dragged over in recent years.
Seven Republicans voted in favor of the bill, while the 187 "no" votes came from the Republicans.
