App Store 10 turning points in 10 years

On July 10, 2008, Apple officially unveiled the App Store for iOS after the launch of the iPhone 3G. Once opened, the store had nearly 500 applications. In just three days, the number has scrambled to 800 and the total number of downloads has reached 10 million.

On June 17, 2009, Apple launched iPhone OS 3.0, and at the same time added a new feature to the App Store: in-app purchases (IAP). The feature, which is only open for paid apps in the first place, has become available for free apps after four months.

3. The app store for tablets

was launched on the iPad market on April 3, 2010, and Apple launched the "Universal" apps at the same time. These apps and games supported both the iPhone and the iPad, and at the beginning there were 3,000 apps with this code. Three months later, this number rose to 9000.

The store, which is already huge and supports many platforms, won the Apple Watch and Apple TV contest in October 2015.

5. The 10th Anniversary

According to the July 10, 2018 edition, there are 2.2 million applications in the App Store and a total of 130 billion downloads continue to grow.
