WHAT IS CA 125?
A CA 125 test measures the amount of CA 125 (cancer 125 antigen) in your blood. A CA 125 test can be used to monitor specific cancers during and after treatment. In some cases, a CA 125 test can be used to look for early signs of ovarian cancer in very high risk individuals. A CA 125 test is usually not accurate enough for ovarian cancer screening as many non-cancerous conditions can increase levels of CA 125.
Many different conditions can lead to an increase in CA 125, including normal conditions such as menstruation and non-cancerous conditions such as uterine fibroids. Some cancers can lead to increased levels of CA 125, including ovarian, endometrial, peritoneal and fallopian cancers.
The normal values of the Ca125 test are normal between 0 and 35. If it is between 35 and 50 years old, the patient must stay under control. In cases of 50 years and older, ovarian cancer is suspected and the necessary examinations are necessary.
