SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU football has announced that the program’s next home game against the Boise State Broncos will air on ABC.
The No.13 Cougars are scheduled to host the Broncos at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 1:30 p.m. MDT.
Boise State vs BYU will be televised on ABC and heard on KSL NewsRadio 102.7 FM and 1160 AM.
This is the first time in the history of the BYU-Boise State rivalry that the two teams will meet today. Typically, BYU and Boise State have always started at 7 p.m. or later, with most of these games taking place on a Thursday or Friday night.
For BYU, this will be their first day game in 2021. Each game starts at 7 p.m. or later in the first five weeks of the season, with the first four games starting at 8:15 p.m. or later.
So, for Cougar fans looking to get home from a game at a decent hour, this is a welcome change.
The last time BYU performed on an ABC or ESPN show at 1:30 p.m. was in 2019 when they hosted the Washington Huskies. It was the last time BYU lost a home game. BYU has since won 13 straight home wins.
BYU and Boise State have played 11 all-time games. Boise State has a 7-4 lead. BYU is 3-2 against the Broncos in Provo and has won the last two games.
The Cougars last played against the Broncos in 2020, when BYU defeated Boise State in Idaho, 51-17.
BYU is currently 5-0 on the season and ranked No. 13 in the latest AP Top 25 poll.
Boise State will travel to Provo with a losing 2-3 record this season.
