Showtime's Halo Live TV series chose Otto Bathurst as the new director and executive producer.

As indicated by Deadline, Bathurst will direct several episodes of the sequence of the nine episodes of the first season. The first season was originally planned for 10 episodes, but would have been changed after the writers of the show had planned the season and broken down the stories accordingly.

Bathurst is best known for making Robin Hood last year and his episodes of Peaky Blinders and Black Mirror. He also directed two episodes of the upcoming His Dark Materials series.

Showtime's Halo series has taken a long way toward production, the last catch being the departure of Director of the Director, Rupert Wyatt, last year – Wyatt reportedly broke off with the project and left it due an extension of the production schedule of the show. Showtime executives and producers of the show would have met several potential replacements before deciding to call Bathurst for the role.

Showtime had officially ordered the first production season in June 2018. Before Wyatt's departure, some reports had announced that filming would begin in Budapest, Hungary, in early June 2019. The show is ready to tell a new story, but respect the canon of the series. .
