tvOS 12.3 beta now available for Apple TV HD and 4K, Apple TV 3 takes over the new beta version of software 7.3

iOS 12.3 beta is not the only new version of development software available so far. The beta testers of Apple TV can also test the tvOS 12.3 player as of today. Curiously, if you have an old third generation Apple TV, you know the model before Apple TV HD, a new beta version of this software today too.

Apple currently sells Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K. Both broadcast boxes use tvOS, an iOS-based operating system that incorporates the latest Apple software, including an App Store.

Apple's previous set-top box, the third-generation model, has been abandoned for a long time and does not run tvOS. Instead, it runs a lean operating system without an App Store. The channel applications on the old Apple TV model rely on the manual deployment of updates by Apple.

It is likely that the new Apple TV software update will be used to support the efforts of Apple's new video streaming service. Apple unveiled the Apple TV and Apple TV + channels earlier this week.

Apple also offers a new version of its Apple TV application on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad and from this fall on Mac. Samsung's smart TVs will also benefit from the new Apple TV app, followed by smart TVs from LG, Vizio and Sony. Roku and FireTV will also work with the new Apple TV app.

Update: Release Notes for the Apple TV 3 Software Update:

The beta version of Apple TV 7.3 software allows you to test AirPlay from your applications only on Apple TV (3rd generation).
