TweetDeck could soon look a lot more like Twitter’s web app

That could be about to change, according to of the “new and improved TweetDeck” he is testing. At first glance, it looks a lot like Twitter’s standard web app.

The company is testing the revamped TweetDeck with a few users in the United States, Canada, and Australia. Twitter product manager Kayvon Beykpour said the updated TweetDeck “a complete tweet composer, new advanced search features, new column types, and a new way to group columns into clean workspaces.” A menu on the left lists a number of “decks” focused on things like food, entertainment, and news, as well as a “main” game.

Any significant change to TweetDeck will surely arouse skepticism from heavy users. Many of those who use the app do so in the course of their work, and important updates that disrupt people’s workflow may not be right for them.

Still, it’s worth remembering that this is a test and things could change before the updated TweetDeck is rolled out more widely. “Through these tests, we are exploring how we can give people more personalization and control using TweetDeck”, Beykpour in a tweet.

Rumors have spread that TweetDeck could become a part of, the company’s subscription service. Beykpour added some fuel to this fire while discussing the app redesign. “We will take these lessons into account when we later explore what TweetDeck might look like in Twitter’s subscription offerings. We will have more to share as soon as we learn from these tests,” he wrote.
