Tyson Foods has recalled nearly 12 million pounds of frozen chicken strips sold under different brands as they could be contaminated with metal.

The recall, which was originally released on March 21, has been updated due to six cases reported throughout the country since then, three of which may have caused "oral harm".

The chicken was sold from October 2018 to March 8, with all packages bearing the P-7221 plant number. The product has been shipped to retailers and institutions, including the Department of National Defense, National Office, and the US Virgin Islands.

The brands involved are Tyson, Best Choice, Food Lion, Giant Eagle, Great Value, Kirkwood, Meijer, Publix and Spare Time. A complete list can be found here.

The USDA advised consumers to discard the product or return it to where it was purchased. Customers should also check their freezers.

Consumers who have questions about the recall should contact Tyson Foods Customer Service at 1-866-886-8456.
