The Twins have announced that they have named the left-hander Danny Coulombe for an assignment to open up a place for the right-hander Juan minaya, whose contract was selected at the alternative training site in St. Paul. Overall, Coulombe pitched in parts of six MLB seasons, working at a combined ERA of 4.19 with 8.5 K / 9, 4.0 BB / 9, 0.99 HR / 9 and a base rate of 56.3%. The Twins will have a week to waive or release him, and they can also trade him in for another club before the Monday afternoon deadline.
As for Minaya, he has spent the last four seasons with division rival White Sox, where he threw a combined average of 3.93 with 10.0 K / 9, 54.6 BB / 9, 0.98 HR. / 9 and a base rate of 36.8% in 128 1/3 frames. Minaya’s control has caused him problems in the past, but it will give the Twins a new paddock arm with swing and miss abilities ahead of tonight’s double title.
