Earlier last week, a massive leak occurred on Twitch that revealed a number of crucial details associated with the streaming platform. As a result of this hack, a lot of important information, especially that associated with certain streamers on the website, began to come to light. And while some may have been more interested in knowing how much money certain Twitch streamers actually make in any given year, it looks like Twitch itself has also put in place some guidelines to ensure that certain creators are never started from the platform.
Yes, following this week’s Twitch leak, some have discovered a new list of streamers who reside on a “Do Not Ban” list within Twitch. The list in question was found buried in a sequence of code and mentioned that notable streamers such as Tyler1, Ricegum, DJWheat and many others should never be banned from the site. Rather than being banned, the list stated that these “violations” should be reported to certain people within the company.
While it’s a little shocking to see it laid out so clearly, there are still a lot of questions to be asked with this list. Specifically, it’s unclear how old the list itself might be at the time of this writing. While streamers like Tyler1 are still pretty massive on Twitch, it’s unclear if the company still sees him as someone who is essentially untouchable.
The other intriguing aspect about this is that Twitch itself has shown in the past that there is no problem with banning some of the site’s biggest streamers. Notable creators like xQc, Amouranth, and even Dr Disrespect have all been launched at one point or another, some of which have been permanent. While some of these streamers are so big, Twitch has shown that they are ready to cut the ties if the need arises. As such, it’s unclear how the names in question ended up on that “Do Not Ban” list in the first place.
What do you think of the fact that Twitch has a list of streamers that it refuses to ban from the platform? And what do you think of the names that appeared on this list? Let me know either in the comments or message me on Twitter at @ Mooreman12.
