In case you missed it, Twitch has confirmed that there was in fact a breach last week that leaked a bunch of details about the online streaming service. The company then shared an update on what kind of data was part of the breach, including that it didn’t believe any sort of full credit card number credentials had been exposed. . That said, Twitch ended up resetting the stream “out of caution”.
“We have learned that some data has been exposed to the internet due to an error in a Twitch server configuration change which a malicious third party subsequently accessed,” part of Twitch’s full statement of the breach read. “Our teams are working urgently to investigate the incident.”

As for what people need to do to get back to streaming on Twitch, it depends on what streaming software these people are actually using. When it comes to Twitch Studio, Streamlabs, Xbox, PlayStation, and the Twitch mobile app, streamers shouldn’t need to do … anything, actually. OBS users who have signed in to Twitch will need to manually update their stream key in OBS and can get it from their dashboard on Twitch. Other software and applications may have different needs to return to streaming.
As we noted while covering the initial report of the hack, Twitch has recently been working to address some serious harassment issues on the platform. He added new account verification options last month to better deter hate raids and the like. “No one should have to endure malicious and hateful attacks based on who they are or what they represent,” the company said in August. “This isn’t the community we want on Twitch, and we want you to know that we’re working hard to make Twitch a safer place for creators.”
