Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey warned staff members that the social media giant’s recent crackdown after the U.S. Capitol riots would be “much more important” than simply banning President Trump’s account.

Dorsey’s message from last Friday’s meeting was leaked to Project Veritas, and a Twitter spokesperson confirmed it was genuine.

“We’re focused on one account right now, but it’s going to be a lot bigger than a single account, and it’s going to last a lot longer than this day, this week and the next few weeks, and beyond. ‘groundbreaking,’ Dorsey said during the video meeting published Thursday by the conservative newspaper.

“So the focus is definitely on this account and its connection to real-world violence. But also, we need to think longer term about how these dynamics change over time. I don’t think it will go away anytime soon.

Dorsey then goes on to discuss Twitter’s massive cleanup of 70,000 QAnon-linked accounts in the wake of the deadly January 6 riot in Washington, DC – calling it “an example of a much broader approach that we should look into and to deepen. . “

In an unprecedented move, Twitter permanently banned Trump from the platform two days after the Capitol siege “due to the risk of further incitement to violence.”

“It’s not going to go away,” Dorsey warned at Friday’s meeting. “The United States is extremely divided. Our platform shows it every day. And our role is to protect the integrity of this conversation, and what we can do is make sure no one gets hurt because of it.

James O’Keefe, who founded Project Veritas, known for its stinging operations against liberal organizations, said the video was recorded by an “insider whistleblower” who works for Twitter.

A Twitter spokesperson confirmed the video’s authenticity to Fox News.

“The remarks shown in the video were delivered to our more than 5,400 employees and are pretty much the same words Jack shared in a recent Tweet thread providing context and thoughts on our work to protect the conversation in recent weeks. “Said the spokesperson.

Dorsey explained Twitter’s decision to ban Trump in a long thread on Wednesday.

“I think it was the right move for Twitter,” he tweeted. “We were faced with an extraordinary and untenable circumstance, forcing us to focus all our actions on public safety. The offline damage resulting from online speech is demonstrably real, and what drives our policy and enforcement above all else. “
