Max Holloway returned to the winning column on Saturday when he defeated compatriot Calvin Kattar in the UFC on the ABC 1 main event.
Holloway (22-6 MMA, 18-6 UFC) scored the first headlining victory on network TV during the Disney era of UFC when he shut down Kattar (22-5 MMA, 6- 3 UFC) by an incredibly one-sided unanimous decision in Abu Dabi. With the win, the former champion snapped a slip of two lost fights, both in title fights against Alexander Volkanovsky.
Check out the main Twitter reactions to Holloway’s UFC win over Kattar on ABC 1 below.
Max Holloway looks SHARP tonight. That’s a big, big deal in a fight with little risk of being shot down. It could be a long night for Calvin Kattar. #UFCFightIsland

Kattar is learning a tough UFC lesson tonight. Ass whooping from Holloway. Absolute shit kicks. # UFConABC1

My goddddd. Every strike in the book. 10-8, you could even say 10-7. Saved by the Bell

The UFC record for the total number of striking attempts is 541 by Colby Covington against Robbie Lawler. Unofficially, after two rounds, Holloway threw 246 shots. #UFCFightIsland

Lefty vs Orthodox, Holloway’s cross kick to the head at the end of the 2nd was brilliant. This is a master class. #UFCFightIsland

Lol @dc_mma kill me 😂
“Fighters, put away your training equipment!”

I was admittedly a victim of worrying about Holloway’s tendencies, but I also noted on several shows this week that I hoped Holloway’s lack of combat approach would allow him to give a Robbie Lawler-style rebirth. … loving what I see tonight. # UFConABC1

OMG. This is… are you… I mean how are you…

It’s just Holloway’s art. The pressure and shot selection are incredible.

Max’s ability to keep Kattar constantly watched and to guess allows him to work so freely and in a fun way. High level stuff !! # UFCFightIsland7

If I’m around Kattar, I tell him it’s the last round I’m going to let go for so long without seeing more.

I must be so frustrating for Kattar. He always lands a few hard knocks here and there, then he watches Holloway eat them. Like really? Nothing??
– Ben Fowlkes (@benfowlkesMMA) January 16, 2021
The first thing Kattar coach Tyson Chartier says is “we’re getting into round five.”
I don’t think Kattar got out of it. He always lands solid counters and retaliates. I can’t fault them for allowing him to continue.

Max Holloway is still absolutely the man and Kattar is apparently one of the toughest human beings in the world and is still in this fight which is insane. # UFCFightIsland7
